I've always been paid salary, which means I get paid the same no matter
what day it is or what time I work.
Actual amounts depend on where you are. You'll be paid more if the cost
of living is high, less if it's not.
I started at $50K in 1998 and am now at $73K. The median income around
here is $65K.
Research the cost of living and average salaries for your area, or your
future employer might gyp you. When I got hired at $50K I thought that
was okay, if a little on the low side, until I found out that my co-
worker was making just $35K!! I think the people downstairs heard my
jaw hit the floor when I heard about that. That would be okay in some
place like rural Idaho, but around here that's foodstamp level income.
