Understood, but why not use sparc and sparcv9 respectively?

The Windoze bit surprises me too, as I can't think of one example
of someone who would buy Sun kit to run Windoze! I guess the marketroids
thought it would be a good idea (and I think the curent Sun x86 servers
are just rebadged generic ones, the compatiblity bit probably comes for
free)...
