We use StarOffice quite a bit, but the forms question was really about the
other direction. We have administrative units that send us forms in pdf
to fill out. StarOffice doesn't read pdf, it only outputs pdf. Acroread
will let you fill out and print the form, but not save it with filled in
values. For a complex form in which we need to periodically adjust some
values, printing is not enough.

My guess is that the windows acrobat would allow this, but apparently there
is no clone for Solaris or Linux.
