I do not have a Solaris contract, it seems all I can do is do the
security upgrades. What should I do then to, say, get improved usb
support and the vold upgrades? Replace my install with a new one?
or make a clean new install.

Best to wait with (re)install to 10 6/06 due soon, which includes lot's of more updates and ZFS :)
