    Apologies for this basic question.

I have a setup where in the UNIX Server is in Singapore running our Application
Server Services and the Clients (Thick or Desktop Clients) connect to the
application server from San Francisco over a Wide Area Network. The performance
is pathetic. The WAN Network Latency is less than 200ms and appears normal.

I understand that a lot of things here are related to the Network sub-systems.
I am just wanting to make sure that i dont miss anything at the UNIX level. Are
there any UNIX level TCP/IP or Network fine tuning that needs to be done
    specifically for WAN?

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Warm regards,
    -Radha.
