I recently posted several messages to some usenet newsgroups under a
pseudonym. In hostile replies to my posts, a poster used my real name. I
did not know the poster, but I did some research on his usenet nym and found
out he is a frequent poster to alt.hackers.malicious and alt.2600.
My question is, How did he get my real name? I had not posted any messages
under my real name. I have checked the headers of every post I made, and
not one contains my real name or email address or anything else that could
identify me, as far as I know. I have checked and can find no evidence of
spyware on my computer. I have gone back and checked the suspicious
websites I visited recently, studied the html source code and found no code
or controls that were clearly used to read cookies.
So, How did he get my name?
