I now tried to low-level format both the Seagate 8GB and the IBM 36GB disks,
and start with empty disks. No difference with the IBM 36GB, but now also
the Seagate makes the system loop forever during boot, restarting after
E1F1.
I assume that this may be that none of them are recognized as a boot disk?
If I reformat the 9GB system disk, what may I expect to happen? Will this
ruin my system forever, or are all the boot routines in microcode?
Or could this prompt a re-install?
Regards,
Jan
