That is not sureprising for me, because after the low level format the system
has no chance to boot from your HD. And if you have no other bootable media
in your CD/floppy drive, how should the system boot?
But if you insert now the instalation CD (which is bootable) is your box, is
it willing to boot from the CD? If not the CD drive is missing on your bootlist
enter the SMS and add it to the bootmenu, *but stop*, you are not able to
enter the SMS IIRC!?!
So what now?
- Is there any warranty for this box? => Ask IBM for help.
- Are you rich? => Ask IBM for help.
- If none of the above is true, check, if the system gives you boot messages
on one of the serial ports.
+ If so, you should be able to enter the SMS on this port as described in
other postings.
+ If not, you can try to put the graphics adaptor to another PCI slot.
This will normaly force the system to ask you to confirm this adaptor
as console, on which you should be able to get the SMS.
But your system had show a strange behavior earlier IIRC, so all me suggestions
may fail, sorry.

Correct.

Loss of all of your data on this disk.

I don't think so, but I can give NO WARRANTY for this answer.

There is enough bootcode in the ROM to start with an empty disk.
The system than normaly boot from CD, *but* your system does not IIRC.
> Or could this prompt a re-install?
You allways have the chance to reinstall your system, *if* you manage
to boot from the installation CD.
Do you have another (running) 43P-150? You can then try to install one of your
(empty) HDs in this system and try to boot with this HD the other box.
Not sure if my suggestions are any longer helpfull
Jochen.
