x86 and SPARC systems don't work the same and AFAIK neither does HP
PA-RISC. So why assume that a RS/6000 and AIX will? I learnt from a very
early age that it was careless to assume much if anything was the same
when it comes to doing Unix sysadm on different boxes. In my first real
job I had to look after RS/6000s and DRS/6000s. I was completely
confused by even the names never mind the fact that the only things that
they really had in common were the basic commands such as vi and ls.

Whilst not trying to teach you how to suck eggs how difficult is the
following?

www.ibm.com
select "Products & services"
select "UNIX"
select "Library"
select "Hardware documentation"
select "7043 43P Series"

or searching on the IBM site for AIX and going to the product homepage?

Now granted the market execs have confused a bunch of people by
rebranding "RS/6000" as "pSeries" (that's p for performance in case
you're curious).

Run the diag command (RTFM) and test the system if you have any doubts
on the hardware.

I have to say that you are a complete idiot for working out and using my
undisguised email address on Usenet.
Twenty years experience, pah! It's quality not quantity that counts.
