Mike;

You need to boot from the AIX distribution CDROM and when the
maintenance menu appears select (I believe #4) the item that reads
"install from a mksysb backup". Then follow the prompts.

If there are differences in the hardware configuration-wise the
process will automatically take care of them.

Upon completion your system will reboot and you should be up and
running with the same install config as the machine the mksysb was
made on.
