Hi John,
no probs. 514 and 516 have been there from AIX 4 on. Those two were just the
most famous. There are others and the fixed kprocs numbers changed with 5L
(AFAIK numbers now random numbers). kprocs should not cause problems with
performance because they have less content switching overhead than 'normal'
processes. You cannot reduce there number easily as the swapper, the reaper,
lrud, wlmsched and nfsd to name a few are among them. On systems with more
processors you will have more kprocs. Every proc has its own wait kproc and
it might show a high usage value but this actually says that the system has
been idle for that time. A wait kproc runs at the lowest priority and will
not interfere with any other process/application. Just leave it alone.
