This might be a bit late, but you should give Storix a try instead of
mksysb. The free download version will do what you need. It creates a
system backup that you can tailor to fit on the new disks AFTER you
start the recovery instead of having to massage all of the config files
to fit the new system BEFORE creating the backup. If you have your AIX
install CD and insert it after the Storix install starts, it will
automatically pull off the CD any device support for new adapters that
are not restored from the backup. We have used this to go from older
RSPC machines to CHRP with entirely different drivers and disk configs
and worked like a charm.
