Re: ssa RAID not automatically re-building to spare

I finally called IBM support. The tech explained that the disk that I
removed as a member of the array, using the ssa raid array menu, was not
really deffective. It was good, so the ssa manager assumes that I know what
I'm doing when I removed one disk as a member of the RAID array. The
technician asked me to yank one disk module out and check the status of the
array. Sure enough, the array was rebuilding to the spare disk.

I can now have peace of mind thinking that in a real disk failure, the
system will be okay.
