if you use smit to create the filesystem on a previosly defined LV then
it will defaultot use the whole LV for the filesystem..

Thats one way.

the other is read some books.

The A-Z of LVM Redbooks are great, they are based on 433, but give you
a great insight in to how LVM ties together.
