While this may be more of a Samba question it actually relates more to
AIX. We are running 5.1 and Samba 2.2.1 and have been running it for
literally years with plain text passwords.
Now because virtually ALL of our desktops are XP with one expecption
(Win98SE) we need to modify our Samba to work with Encrypted
Passwords. Doesn't seem to be a big deal. We modified the smb.conf
parameter accordingly and made sure that our PC's are definitely
sending encrypted pwds.
Now no one can connect. The smb logs state that the "user" is not
found in the smbpasswd file. The only utility we can find is
smbpasswd and we tried using it to set the passwords with -U userid
pwd. Doesn't work.
So, my quesiton is this: What, if anything, did anyone else have to do
if and when they made this same change? On my Linux systems there's
a smbadduser command but NOT on the AIX version.
Any suggestions?
TIA
