What type of SAN is it . EMC , IBM ?

You need to install the necessary drivers on the server. do you have
fiber adapters in your server ?

EMC SAN involves , zoning , masking and all till you get the disk to be
recognized by the server

creating such a big file system will be giving you problems if hte FS
got corrupetd and if you need to a fsck on it
