    Be carefull with your wishes. Sometime they became true.

    To Solve your problem:
    Are you using DHCP for configuring your Computer ?
    If yes: config. your AIX box to use DHCP
    If no: Get:
     * gateway address
     * subnet mask
     * free ip number withhin your subnet
     * DNS name server

    ( Most stuff can be found by checking your XP M$ box )

    and configure your network interface with smitty again
    Meaning:
     SET the IP
     SET the netmask
     SET the default Gateway
     SET the DNS Server
     SET Start Now to YES
