Greetings all,
I have been working on this for 5 days, and have come to no satisfactory
resolution. Here is my issue:
I am attempting to upgrade a 5.2 partiton on a p690 from my NIM server,
which is a partition on my p595 running 5.3. I copied my entire 5.3.0.2
distro down to disk on my NIM server (all 8 cds), and made my lppsource
out of that, and then created my spot out of that lppsource. I then use
alt_disk_install to upgrade the disk running 5.2 (hdisk0) to a free disk
(hdisk1). It completes. I reboot the server, and it boots 5.3 on
hdisk1 just fine. My issue is that not all of the 5.2 packages get
updated to 5.3. There is quite a bit of them, and I can easily then NFS
mount the directory I copied the CD's to and complete the upgrade, but
then that defeats the whole purpose of this process. What I want to
know, is there a way to use the lslpp ouput of the running OS on hdisk0
to determine the configuration of my spot for the alt_disk_install over
NIM to hdisk1? I have spent many hours trying to use the output of
oslevel -rl 5300-02 to figure out which software to add to my spot, and
some won't load into the lppsource, and the rest won't load into the
spot due to dependencies. Is there a streamlined way to do this? I
want to do this well the first time so that when it comes time to do it
again, I have it down.
Thank you in advance,
SG
