server hangs at sms menu?

    I have a remote server that has (randomly?) hung
    at the sms menu on boot. This server is booted
    every night (I know, don't want to hear it) and
    does not hang each night, but has three times in
    three weeks. I have a terminal concentrator on
    the S1 console port.

    The sequence is:

    - boot the box
    - the night operator calls saying the box didn't
      come back from the boot
    - telnet to the concentrator and port
      (telnet DEVICE 3500)
    - when I've done this I see the sms menu portion
      where it looks like it's trying to find its
      console ... I don't do anything here and it
      continues to boot normally

      a coworker says he must press ENTER, then it
      continues booting from the same sms menu (I
      don't ever remember pressing ENTER for it
      to continue)
    - the box then boots normally

    This is a p615, aix 5.2 ML 5, only a single microcode
    level down. It is the primary of a HACMP cluster,
    though I don't think that's an issue.

    Any ideas?
