Right, the boot image gets built once you set a client to netboot. It
also gets rebuilt if you run a NIM check operation on the SPOT, like
after you've applied AIX maintenance to the SPOT.
FYI - Stick to either Uniproc (up) or Multiproc (mp) for client kernel
type when defining the NIM client. IBM support says the 64bit option
is for future use and it will cause things like IP configuring on the
et(x) ethernet interface rather than the en(x) ethernet interface on
reboot after install.
