I have a 5716 working into a p660-6H1 (H80 brother) running AIX 5.2
ML5.

62.5 and 50 microns multi-mode cables are shortwave (orange is what I
always saw)
, they are compatible with 5716 HBA. 62.5

Longwave is normally 9 microns single-mode and is for longer distance,
they are
normally used for ISL (Inter-Switch link) and could cover long
distance, I always saw yellow cables.

Cable connectors come in 2 types, LC and SC. LC is the connector for
the 5716 HBA and the 9216 a s well. So you cables should be 62.5 LC-LC
between the 5716 HBA and the switch. SC connectors are mostly seen in
older switches/HBA and for site-site cabling (ie: the end os the cables
that run in the ground).

SAN fabrics should be managed by storage administrators for better
control and deployment. But your company may think different...
