AIX reporting L2cache0 size

Hi All,
I am in the process of upgrading a IBM Intellistation, model 9112-265
from AIX 5.1 to AIX 5.3
running a single 1 way Power3-II 450 processor.
I am under the impression that this processor has 8MB of L2 cache, and
when running
AIX 5.1, 'lsattr -El L2cache0' does report that the processor has 8MB
of L2 cache.
However, after installing AIX 5.3, the lsattr command reports that the
system has only
4MB of L2 cache.
I then read on the Bull website that the firmware for this machine MUST
be upgraded
before installing AIX 5.3, so the firmware has now been updated to the
latest levels
while the system was still running AIX 5.1.
A new overwrite installation of AIX 5.3 again, and lsattr is reporting
only 4MB of L2 cache again.
After looking at the IBM Redbook 'IBM pSeries 2003..', on page 135
reference is made
to this machine having a 'Power3-11 450 MHz processor with 4MB of L2
cache', but in
all other documention I can find, reference is always made to a 8MB
cache (as
reported by AIX 5.1).
Is there a way to tell what the real size of the L2 cache is?
If AIX 5.3 is getting it wrong and using only 4MB, should the system
remain on AIX 5.1?
Does this sound like a script for a Monty Phython show ?
Any insights would be appreciated...
Cheers, Barry
.
