Hi,
I was interested in learning aix but don't have access to a workstation
or server. if i got one on ebay, would I need a license key to install
aix on it (assuming i got the CDs as well)?
I recently did this and there was no keys needed. I got myself a 7044-170
with AIX 5.1 media and did a reinstallation of the OS overwriting the
existing system. Everything went great.
I don't think any future versions of the OS requires this either.
Ah, but there is something new and wonderful in AIX 5.3. On several
occasions, it will fail an "installp" if you don't specify that yes
M'lud, I accept your bloody license agreement. It's the -Y flag on
installp. So my "magic word" has changed from installp -acgXd
/data/lppsource filesets to -acgXYd...
It's only one letter, but still annoying. I can just imagine some
pointy-haired character insisting on putting in that "feature".
