I need to build a C/C++ project to run on an IBM RS-6000 with AIX 5. What
are my options if I only have Windows? Is there some compiler that runs on
Windows but kicks out binaries for AIX / RS-6000 ? Thanks for shedding any
light.
gcc can be set up to be a cross compiler. See the docs
at http://gcc.gnu.org. But me thinks even then you'll
need a native AIX system for testing purposes.
You'll also need to get native AIX/RS-6000 libraries (e.g. libc.a)
from somewhere ...
Thanks for the pointer, Paul! I completely forgot about
the libs ;-) Another thought: Since one does not have the
AIX 'as' and 'ld' isn't there also a good change of getting
broken binaries? I've never tried using 'gas' and 'gld' on
AIX, since i already had once been in that particular hell
with Solaris ;-)
