Have you tried different cables? what do you see on the switch? does
it show anything connected to those ports when you plug in? if you've
tried both adapters (w/out errors on the host system), different ports
on the switch (and different systems into the two ports in question),
that would be the next logical progression.
Good Luck.

One of the 6228s is cabled in to a McData fiber switch, which is
connected to an EMC Clariion CX-700 SAN array. We have several (many,
many) other systems cabled in thusly. This particular system will not

We sent an emcgrab output to EMC, to which they respond that
'everything looks fine on the server.' We sent a product_info.txt out
of the McData switch to EMC, to which they respond 'nothing looks
amiss.' We've tried hardcoding the switch port for 1GB-Fport,
2GB-Fport and the auto setting (which works with every other system).
Diags on fcs0 and fcs1 return no errors or problems. New fiber didn't
solve the problem. We can cable other systems to the switch ports and
they work fine. We've tried removing the FC device driver package and
all EMC packages and rebooting, then reinstalling the device driver
packages and rebooting, then reinstalling the EMC packages and
rebooting (apparently there are people who think UNIX-like systems
behave like WIndows-based systems). All to no avail. I'm ready to
chuck the whole thing out the door. Oh, and we've tried using one, the
other, or both cards.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Did you resolve it? Any suggestions
would be appreciated. Does it matter which slots the 6228s go in?
That just occurred to me...<sigh>
