I have an IBM pSeries 650 server the OS on which ( AIX 5.2) was most
probably wiped before it got to me. Today when I hooked up a serial
console to it it directly went into the "Service Processor Firmware"
menu. I have pretty much exhausted all the options in the sub menus to
go further without any luck. Basically I want to be able to boot using
cdrom and install AIX 5.2 from scratch. Going through previous posts
and google I have done the following,
1. After choosing "99" to exit menu, press the white power button. I
hear some activity but brings me right back to the menu. I have seen a
post where a guy hooked up a monitor as he had a graphics card..but
that is not an option for me.
2. Go into the option 2 , power settings and choose "power on" in the
menu. Again brings me back to the menu.
3. Tried pressing 1 ( ascii terminal) during physical power on as an
AIX admin told me that usually takes to the SMS menu..
4. Tried pressing 5 ( ascii terminal) as another new AIX install I did
last week has 5 or F5 for boot cdrom ..this did not work either..
5. I dont' see any errors on the LED on the console..
I did read the setup manual and the user guide none of which helped..
Any ideas?
