I'm new on AIX system, and I've some troubles with AIX 5.1.0 on RS/6000 44P Model 170 IBM computer (RS/6000 firmware version SPH04194).
The computer was installed by someone else, sometime ago (2nd hand computer in a company).
When the computer starts (with no interaction from anyone), it told :
Welcome to AIX....
boot device : /pci@fef00000/scsi@c/sd@4:2
Closing stdin and stdout.
After googling a lot on this error message, I choose to reinstall AIX
The CD set are not the original, but copies (I promess, everything is legal). I need to install AIX, so I boot the computer, insert CD1, then choose the boot device order (setting SCSI CD Drive to 1st boot device); then i reboot.
But the computer did not start the installation process, just told me :
Starting software
Please wait...
Default catch ! Code = fff00700 SRR0 : 00000014 SRR1 : 00083000
Then i've a prompt, so I try to launch "boot" command, and it returns :
boot. Unable to use memory at load-base.
The status on front LED panel is : E14D
So, i'd like a way to have AIX running, from the previous installation, or in reinstalling it.
Thks all for your help.
Damien
Hi,

This is not an error message but the standard message when the boot device has been found and the AIX kernel gets loaded. So it is really important as suggested by former responder that you give us the LED code on the operator panel. May be it just shows a c31, which directs you to set the console. This is a common problem if console changes from lft (console defined on a graphics adapter) to tty (console on serial line) or vice versa.
BTH: Your FW is one level back from latest available FW SPH05195, but this should be no problem.
