Client Profile

Our Client is world’s leading IT Software Company (CMMI level 5
certified company), it has been serving the supply and demand chain
for nearly 30 years

Currently our client is looking for System Architects (UNIX / AIX
Engineers). Kindly go through the following requirement & do let us
know your interest.

SYSTEM ARCHITECT

This UNIX System Engineer setup, install, configure, test, maintain
and support post-install initiatives for UNIX/SUN Solaris systems and
ensure the reliability and data integrity of each server with a goal
of no unplanned down time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure that all systems are maintained at supported levels of
operating systems, maintenance and/or technology levels, patches,
bundles and code reviews.
To recommend, uphold and enforce all UNIX standards domestically
including all standards for system, security, reporting and process
elements.
To ensure that all changes to all UNIX systems are managed and
approved modifications of corporate systems are managed through a
change control process, which adhere to the Corporate IT Policies and
procedures.
To provide research and guidance in all technical matters related to
the support and operations of the UNIX systems and networks within
North America with an eye towards issues that effect the operations
globally.
To provide technical leadership and direction to all projects that are
requested of the Operations department, and to ensure the most
appropriate technology is applied in a efficient manner.
To provide UNIX system(s) and application support to our client
Associates and to manage all tasks through the use of the HELP Desk
software.
To maintain a 99.99% availability of all network and systems
components that ensures no unscheduled outage worldwide lasts for
longer than 2 hours.
Ensure that all UNIX systems, with or without database environments /
applications are backed up and secured. Enforce, review, supplement
and update backup and recovery strategies as needed worldwide.
Ensure that all UNIX server hardware and software is maintained to
current levels, including system firmware code and that all critical
hardware and corresponding appropriate software is placed on service/
maintenance contracts. Follow up, periodically, with software
upgrades, scheduling for planned implementation of upgrade activities.
All hardware should be maintained in working order and repaired
immediately in the event of failures or malfunction. Demonstration of
success for this goal will be evidenced with the availability of
Active Schedules and status provided regularly.
Responsible for recording and reviewing the operational effectiveness,
relative network capacity and DASD requirements including Cisco/
Brocade SAN switches and IBM storage subsystem technology. To assist
with a campaign to organize and reduce the DASD and/or computing
requirements for the corporation.
Work with the Help Desk coordinator to ensure all VERSA call tickets
are “statused” and/or completed/closed in their prescribed time
frames.



SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Excellent working knowledge of AIX 5.x,HP-UX 11i,Solaris 2.x and
Solaris 10 operating system concepts and applications for daily
systems administration tasks.
Superior working knowledge of IBM, HP and SUN server, disk arrays and
other storage hardware including enterprise class systems.
Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of networking concepts and
technologies including LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS and NIM.
Familiarity with static and dynamic server logical partitioning
technologies inlcuding HMC. Knowledge of virtualization technology
such as VIO and advanced tools such as PLM is a plus.
Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of Storage Area Networking
concepts inlcuding but not limited to LUN masking and provisioning,
zoning, fabric mangement
Experience with IBM DS Storage Subsystems and Cicso/Brocade SAN
switches (can substitute experience with other vendor products)
Experience in supporting and managing Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g database
environments.
Experience with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) v5.x backup and
restore technologies including setting up clients nodes, domains,
policy settings, copy groups, include/exclude lists, etc. Familiarity
with Tivoli Data Protection (TDP) for Oracle-RMAN is a plus.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact
with a wide variety of internal and external personnel with emphasis
on follow-through and reporting.
Must have excellent organization and technical documentation skills
with a strong drive for perfection.
Ability to work extended hours during the week and on weekends.
Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to make modifications to the systems with little or no
interruption of service.
Ability to organize projects and tasks according to priorities,
demonstrate leadership qualities and display ability to communicate
effectively project plans and status.
Must be self-motivated and enjoy a sense of pride in their
accomplishments.
Ability to travel occasionally internationally and incur travel
expenses until reimbursed by the company.
Knowledge of PC hardware/software principals and operating systems
such as Windows 2000, WindowsNT and Windows XP.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with a wide variety of
internal and external personnel.
Excellent communications skills with an emphasis on follow-through and
tracking.
Ability to work shift work including evenings, weekends, and
holidays.
Preference given to candidates that can work 26+ weeks during US day
shift.

Qualification: Must be from (BE/B.Tech / ME/M.Tech / MCA / M.Sc.) From
premium institutions
