I am having some difficulty configuring printer services on my newly
installed FreeBSD 5.0. I have followed the guidance in the printing
section of the handbook at freebsd.org, and when I send text to the
printer, the light flashes, but there is no output.
The printer is an HP Laserjet 1100 on the parallel port (/dev/lpt0).
I have a filter (from the handbook) to take care of the CR/LF problem.
Also of note, the logfile I have set up in /etc/printcap only has one entry
in it - the starting of lpd.
Does anybody have any advice on configuring HP printers?
