Yes. Just about any videocard has one or more read-only fonts -- at
least one for each different-sized text mode. Nowadays any PC card you are
likely to have is VGA compatible and these are often called VGA fonts.
Cards also have the ability to load several user fonts, usually fonts
of various sizes for a main and for an alternate character set. Most
operating systems load their own user fonts just to be sure the
character sets are what the system thinks they are. There are utilities
to dump the card's ROM fonts if you just want to look at them or
if you want to edit them and use them as user fonts. Naturally you
can't change the ROM fonts because they are read-only.
