To an end user, it doesn't matter what programming language or license the
desktop is using, as far as it is free to the user and easy to use. The
large number of average users, other than the few "real unix fans", decide
whether a desktop environment is good or not.
Actually in my eys, gnome is a COLLECTION of many programs that have similar
toolbar icons other than a unified desktop ENVIRONMENT. Too much should be
done to make it an intergrated thing. Hope the "neat language' and "good
license" are not the only things gnome can be pround of.
