i understand and agree with the "give a man a fish and feed him for a
day; teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime" bit, but not
everything can be solved by looking at a man page or web site. there
are a lot of things that are not documented very well as you said and
when someone asks for a group's opinion on a subject they should not be
replied to with a link or suggestions to seek that information from a
web site.
i know from looking through the man page for BIND that there is no way
that i would have been able to setup my DNS server without having an
example to go by. but all this aside the original question was for an
opinion, not assistance with something that could be found in any
handbook or other documentation.
