I gave up trying to dial ADSL with the native pppoe provided by FreeBSD
4.9 and am trying to use Roaring Penguin. FAiling that, i will have to buy
a router.

I downloaded version 2.0 of rp-pppoe and compiled and installed it on
FreeBSD 4.9 with no problems. I then proceeded to adsl-setup and
everything looked good. However, on adsl-start, i got a message
unrecognized option pty (something like that). I checked up the rp-pppoe
website and it says to make sure /etc/ppp/options is empty. I don't even
have that file.

Then, make sure i have version 2.3.7 of pppd. 4.9 only has 2.3.5. I tried
to looks on ports to find pppd but could not find it. How can i upgrade to
a newer pppd?

does FreeBSD 5.2.1 use pppd 2.3.7? If so, i just might try using 5.2.1
isntead. I know it may be in development, but at least i may be able to
get online with it!
