But the reverse, I have found, holds true - you can run e.g. 4.7 binaries on
4.9 and even 5.x (there are 4.x, 3.x etc. compatibilty libraries that you
can install by default; I was also pleasently surprised when I found 3rd
party binaries compiled for 3.x that run just fine). Is *that* a policy/safe
to assume?
