Your hardware is newer than mine, but I have had good success with FreeBSD on
my HP Pavilion N5295 notebook. I have run FreeBSD 4.7-4.9 without issue and
also 5.2. APM under 5.2 actually works pretty well. I can suspend the
hardware and determine how much battery is left. However, running a realtime
battery monitor (such as the XFCE4 battery monitor) causes stuttering when
playing an MP3.
The trick to getting the Maestro3 onboard sound card to work is to add
snd_maestro3_load="YES"
to /boot/loader.conf.
I do not know if the Broadcom wireless card will work or not.
