Hi Dan,
I assume that most people here are not experienced in the webcam topic.
I base my assumption on the fact that a couple of weeks ago I asked a
similar question here, regarding the use of internet cameras (actually I
was trying to get suggestions for video-telephoning, using a firewire or
usb camera, a mic and a soundcard) and I received no replies at all.
Knowing that this is an active and very helpful newgroup, I presume that
nobody felt to be experienced enough to comment the question.
I am only telling this to prepare you that you may end up without
answers as well.
Anyway, I finally decided to go for a firewire camera. As I did not find
any good guide on how to use such one under FreeBSD, I decided to go for
an iSight and use it with a relatively cheap, second-hand Macintosh. Of
course, when I have the device I will keep on trying to get it working
under FreeBSD, and if I have any success I will post a report in this
newsgroup.
