Dear group,
I tried installing FreeBSD now on my notebook, but after booting I found our
that there are some problems made with the keyboard by the installation
system:
-> The Fn-Key is disabled, so I can't change notebook-specific properties
without using the BIOS
-> The german AltGr-key is disabled, so I can't write '\', 'µ' or '@', '{',
'[', '~' and others using the normal (german) keyboard layout
-> The key right of the left Shift-key (on a normal keyboard) is disabled,
so I can't write the keys '<', '>' and '|'.
The only problem is, that these problems resist under other OSs and it
doesn't hide after rebooting. A BIOS-update (with the actual one) didn't
help. Sometimes, after installing many times, repartition and so on, it
works, or it doesn't work.
Now don't have any ideas why it is so nor how to make it work.
The notebook is a Toshiba T4600C, which may be compatible to (very) old IBM
ThinkPads around '93 or '94. Did anybody have or had these problems or does
anyone here have an idea about it?
(Hopefully) Regards,
Sebastian
