X doesn't resize the desktop when changing video modes... all it does
is magnify the screen and therefore create a virtual desktop. as i
mentioned, with my vodoo3 card, i have to set it to 640x480 for it to
display correctly. in your case the card only sends 640x480 worth of
the picture. if you set your screen size correctly then it won't make
the "virtual desktop" like it's doing.
