There is at least one USB adsl modem which has a freebsd driver, it is
tha Sagem Fast 800 that i am using right now under freebsd. The driver
is at
http://damien.bergamini.free.fr/ueagle/
This driver in principle works with USR modems.
Another modem which is reported to work is the Alcatel "ray manta" modem
which works with another driver.
But in general USB modems will not work while ethernet modems will
surely work.
