One of the things Ch. 16 of the handbook says is "install the drive in
the computer following the instructions of the computer, controller, and
drive manufacturer."
Assuming you're planning on setting up an IDE drive, you have to make
sure that the controller and the disk itself both support at least one
IDE mode in common. Not that long ago I saw someone install an archaic
PIO3 drive in a machine with a mobo that only did PIO4 and upwards, and
not understand why it didn't work.
Given that the machine has an 8GB drive I think it's safe to assume that
it does UDMA-33, and most new disks are still able to run at that speed.
Just make sure of it, that's all :)
