Hello,
I'm currently using Mozilla (1.7.5_1,2) as the browser on my FreeBSD
workstation, running 5.3-stable:
user@kg-work$ uname -a
FreeBSD kg-work.kg4.no 5.3-STABLE FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE #1: Sun Nov 14
20:19:11 CET 2004 root@kg-work.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SS51G i386
Mozilla is almost rock solid on my workstation (meaning that it very
rarely crashes).
I have installed Thunderbird (1.0) and Firefox (1.0_6,1), and are
already using Thunderbird; it is also rock solid.
However, Firefox is really unstable; I can usually crash it within five
minutes after staring it, just by browsing a few sites. There doesn't
seem to be any pattern in what sites / features that will crash Firefox;
these are the same sites that I'm happily using with Mozilla.
Firefox core dumps when it crashes, with a signal 11.
Now, I'm also using Mozilla and Firefox on another "operating system",
and there both browsers are equally stable (not to mention a lot better
than the alternatives).
I have searched Google and the FreeBSD mailing list archives but can't
seem to find any suggestions on what to try.
Any hints?
