Have the text file with one line per paragraph
and a blank line between paragraphs.
Rename the text file to .doc. Send as an attachment.
Attachment magically opens in MS Turd instead of Notepad.
    Problem solved.

You hit the crux of the problem.
Since the pimps only know how to open the document, and don't
know any application other than MS Turd and the database, abuse
Windows' misguided notion of going by extension instead of file magic.
It isn't like formatting really matters because the pimps will
screw up your formatting, remove any identifying information that could
let a potential john contact you directly, and inflate your
resume if they think they can get away with it (And if anything
they've gotten worse since the job market became leaner).

If you actually care about the formatting of your resume,
find a pimp that can handle PDF. Provide two PDF files. One
where the resume has your contact information. A second where
that information has been stripped out so they can forward it
    on without applying whiteout first.
