My bad, i must both have misunderstood you and expressed myself in an
inappropriate way. I was only trying to be helpful by saying that
the handbook was something valuable and useful, but not the absolute reference
on subtle points.

In general there are lot of things for which there is not a black and white
answer. For example i have just built avidemux2 from ports, only to discover
that it coredumps on illegal instruction. Hence i have edited make.conf
to fix optimisation level to -O, fix cputype to i686 in spite of p4,
rebuilt avidemux2, and now it works. How can people sort all those
glitches without trying extensively the softs?
