Problem with arrow keys!

  I'm a freebsd beginner.After installing FreeBSD successful,I create a
user account.But,when I login with this account,I can't use the arrow
keys.There will be some character like "^[[A" when I press the up
key,and so as the other three arrow keys.And so does the delete
key.But,when I login as root,there is no problem.Why?Any help would be
appreciated!
