Unfortunately, I _am_ the admin. :-)
But I'm confused. Does freebsd.org _only_ talk IPv6 ?
(thereby "disenfranchising a lot of people)
Also, how can there be a "second" if that is my "first" problem?

Ah, OK, then, of the ones that don't name a country,
the one that failed both methods is supposed to be the fastest.

(sheepish grin) I may be ignorant, but I should have
thought of that one!

Aha. I did set my firewall to allow FTP, but perhaps I didn't
do enough to make active FTP work.

worth a shot.

No, the Finder FTP is always noticeably slower to ANY server.

Oh, it's not so much "resuming," it's that when I
drag the whole interrupted directory, it refuses
to overwrite the files it already received. And
it refuses to get the other files unless I individually
select _only_ those files.
Any wy, thanks, everyone for the education.
I do have most it downloaded now.

After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed
all the way home in the back seat of the car. His father asked him
three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, "That preacher
said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to
stay with you guys."
