Can your laptop be made to boot from a floppy? Or, a floppy image burned
onto a CD/DVD? That would at least let you see if later versions behave
differently.
As others have observed 5.0 was never considered fit for production,
Despite that, it has proven useful to me. At a high cost in labor!
