It's a thought but 'overkill' for one application that I don't need more
than two or three times a week (when I get some overly-formatted Word doc
for a state gov. agency.) Besides, Word97 runs fine in Linux with
Crossover. If I move to FreeBSD I don't want to LOSE functionality.

Instead of virtualization, it would be easier to just keep a partition with
Linux on it and boot to that when I need to run Word. OpenOffice works most
of the time... but not all.

Will FreeBSD 'slice' (or whatever you call it... read handbook and FreeBSD
calls slices what I call a partition and a partition what I call a
filesystem... very different) live with a Linux partition? Do you folks use
grub as a boot loader?
