A) "going out of their way to make their product easily detected in
windows" has a LOT to do with Microsoft - surely you were aware that
windows is a Microsoft product?

B) When one open source *nix detects hardware that another apparently
can't, it makes me wonder who's asleep at the switch. Give me a break.
Basic detection of the monitor is nowhere near exotic stuff.
