Ok, this hasn't gone as well as I had hoped. I'm not sure why it won't boot
but I'm wondering if I'm going about this the wrong way altogether.
So here's the story. I have this load balancer that runs FreeBSD. The
drive failed such that I get input/output errors on the thing and it won't
boot. The drive is in a somewhat working condition, however. I can look at
the partition table and I can read and mount /usr, /var, and /tmp. The root
partition won't mount or can't be read. Now, I have another load balancer
that's similar and live. I can take a dd of the root partition on the new
load balancer and it should work. What's the best way to reconstruct the
old drive assuming that the / partition of the working load balancer would
serve just fine as the root partition of the broken one?
