You can change them easily. :-) I've changed mine to behave more like Tin.
In particular, I've mapped arrow-left and arrow-right to move into articles
and groups.

There is an NNTP patch for Mutt, but I would not recommend it. Mutt is a mail
user agent, not a newsreader. They are fundamentally different things.
